Residential Visit 1

Day 1

Children arrived safely and settled in really well! They unpacked their luggage and made their beds before enjoying their packed lunches in the lodge.

Children had their first session with the instructors learning circus skills - they enjoyed practising juggling, using devil sticks, diabolo and plate spinning. Everyone spent some time in the sunshine playing football, basketball, table tennis and using the parachute before our second session.

The children were so brave on the climbing wall and all gave it a really good go!

After dinner, children enjoyed a movie night with hot chocolate, popcorn, games and bubble baths!

Day 2

Everyone enjoyed working together in fencing, learning the names for the professional moves and how to execute them safely. Children then worked on teamwork and independence on the challenge course. They had to balance, climb, crawl and swing their way across the obstacles!

The children have also been enjoying getting tokens off the instructors for being the bravest, kindest and the best team players in each activity.

For lunch, the group enjoyed jacket potatoes and sandwiches.

During the afternoon, everyone was so brave at ziplining and abseiling, conquering their fears. Some children climbed the tall tower to watch their friends, others flew down the zipline and some super brave children descended the abseil!

They then headed down to the lake to spend some time on (and in!) the water. The children worked as a team to row their rafts across the lake and collected objects in the water. There was a lot of splashing between the teams that quickly turned into a water fight and before long, everyone was in the water having a swim!

The children enjoyed hot showers or baths before a tasty dinner of burgers and wedges with ice-cream for pudding.

Their final activity of the day was the big bounce. The children had a great time racing each other and the adults on the inflatable obstacle course, bouncing on the giant bouncy castle and shooting footballs at Mr Taylor in the inflatable football goal.

After a quick snack, everyone packed their bags ready for the morning before bed. Some of the children were eager to help the adults with tidying the living room and they even hoovered the whole lodge!

The children got tucked up ready for another busy day.  They were also waiting for the Pioneer tooth fairy as one of the children lost a tooth just before bed!

Day 3

Everyone got up bright and early ready for their final day! The children packed their bags and stripped their beds before heading to the canteen for a cooked breakfast with cereals, fruit, yoghurt and juice to set them up for the day.

Children headed to the high ropes for crate stacking, leap of faith and the aerial obstacle course. After all their practice over the previous couple of days, everyone was fantastic doing activities that took lots of bravery and courage!

The group finished their stay with the sensory swing. Everyone did so well waiting for their turn and then enjoyed being spun high round the room in time with music of their choice!

Children ate their packed lunch out on the grass and said a big goodbye to the centre for another year!

We are so proud of all the children, they were brilliant - a real credit to Haughton School!
