Haughton School

This week we have been finding out about Remembrance Day. Children have been learning about why Remembrance Day is important and how it is commemorated.  We have been talking about how we can remember and show our respect and gratitude to the armed forces past and present who have lost their lives fighting for their country.

Children and staff in school each made a poppy and all the poppies were made into a beautiful display at the front of school.

Upper Key Stage 2 showed their respect by observing the 2-minute silence and thinking about why people wear poppies

The lower school watched an animation of peace coming after war and poppies growing, remembering soldiers and also the hope of peace.

On Monday Year 6 children will take part in a remembrance service at Madeley memorial, the rest of the school will be forming the shape of a giant poppy on the MUGA and one of our governors, Graham Oldham, has kindly agreed to photograph us all doing this using his drone.

We'd like to thank everyone who donated to our poppy appeal to help raise funds for the Royal British Legion.

Well done everyone.
